Role Overview

The Retail Operations Leader is accountable for all facets of store management and strategic planning, including events, promotional materials, execution, and assessment to ensure optimal sales performance, effective cost management, and efficient labor utilization. This role is essential in guaranteeing a positive shopping experience for customers and a supportive work environment for staff, adhering to all procedural guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all departments to ensure seamless store operations.
  • Prepare weekly sales and labor forecasts, execute plans, and consistently meet budgeted payroll targets.
  • Supervise department managers to ensure accountability for their departments, including hiring practices, scheduling, and labor cost management.
  • Recruit, develop, evaluate, and oversee Department Managers and staff.
  • Manage departmental schedules to remain within budgeted payroll percentages.
  • Oversee store financials and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Profit & Loss (P&L) Statement.
  • Analyze financial statements and utilize them in daily business operations.
  • Ensure store cleanliness and sanitation comply with local regulations and best practices.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for employees, vendors, and customers.
  • Manage cash flow for the store, approving all expenses prior to occurrence.
  • Initiate weekly communications with support department directors to share business information.
  • Ensure all store expenses receive appropriate approvals before processing.
  • Conduct monthly inventory counts, ensuring all deadlines are met and the store is prepared for inventory.
  • Address customer concerns, personnel matters, and policy violations effectively.
  • Coordinate all store events, including executing promotional merchandising plans and marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee merchandising, loss prevention, and store presentation.
  • Anticipate business fluctuations and respond proactively to challenges.
  • Maintain a high level of product knowledge and preparation.
  • Regularly inspect departments to ensure organization and cleanliness.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is preferred. A minimum of 6 years of professional experience is required, with 5-7 years of grocery retail experience in store operations and merchandising processes preferred. Experience in the natural foods sector is advantageous.

  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
