General Summary: Under moderate supervision, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments to patients as prescribed by a radiation oncologist, adhering to established standards and practices.

Reporting StructureThis position reports directly to the Operations Manager of the Cancer Center and collaborates with the Senior Radiation Therapist.
Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program is required.
- Licensure as a radiation therapist in the relevant state is mandatory.
- Preferred: One year of clinical experience in radiation therapy.
- Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of radiation therapy and equipment is essential.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
The position is primarily based in a clinical environment, which may involve frequent interruptions and multiple demands. The therapist may encounter challenging situations with patients and may be required to work on rotating shifts, including participation in on-call rotations.
Safety Practices: It is crucial to adhere to established radiation safety principles, including the use of personal protective equipment such as lead aprons and gloves.
Health Risks: The role may involve exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and ionizing radiation, necessitating compliance with standard precautions and safe handling practices.
Physical Requirements: The position requires frequent standing, walking, stooping, and bending. The therapist must be capable of lifting, pushing, and transferring patients, as well as operating equipment and utilizing computer systems.
