Position Overview
Under general supervision, the Nuclear Medicine Specialist I is responsible for performing diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures utilizing radioisotope and radiation detection techniques.

Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates foundational clinical proficiency in nuclear medicine technology across various patient demographics.
- Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and necessary adjunctive medications for imaging procedures.
- Provides imaging results, data analysis, and pertinent patient information for diagnostic evaluation.
- Selects appropriate technical parameters tailored to individual patient needs, showcasing knowledge and skills essential for age-appropriate care.

- Applies expertise in nuclear medicine principles, including anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, quality assurance, and patient care skills.
- Ensures the safety and security of radiopharmaceutical storage and delivery, adhering to regulatory compliance standards set by the Joint Commission, State, and Federal guidelines.

- Accurately documents patient care activities in electronic health record systems.
- Maintains a safe and organized work environment, manages supplies and inventory, and communicates supply needs to colleagues.
- Reports equipment or environmental issues in line with established policies.

- Actively engages in departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing workflows, patient experiences, and overall quality.
- Participates in training and educational activities for both students and employees.

Qualifications
Education:
Completion of a certificate or advanced degree in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine from an accredited program recognized by the US Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Experience:
No prior experience required.

Licensures/Certifications:
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (N) and/or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (CNMT).
- Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist in the State of Maryland.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Preferred Qualifications:
Education:
Associate Degree.
Licensures/Certifications:
Approval letter from the State of Maryland Board to operate a CT/Nuclear Medicine Device or ARRT (CT).
- Licensed Radiographer in the State of Maryland.
