Senior Radiation Therapy Specialist

Position Overview:
MedStar Health is seeking a dedicated Senior Radiation Therapy Specialist to contribute to our healthcare mission. In this role, you will be responsible for administering radiation therapy treatments, conducting simulation procedures, and assisting in the planning of patient treatment protocols. You will meticulously document all facets of patient care in medical records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Chief Therapist and Technical Director in the execution of new policies and procedures while striving to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
- Assist in the daily operations of the Radiation Therapy Center, ensuring efficient workflow and patient care.
- Collaborate with physicians and office staff to ensure timely treatment for patients.
- Maintain clear communication with the Chief Therapist to support departmental goals.
Primary Duties:
- Accurately record all aspects of simulation, treatment delivery, and billing processes.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and consistently utilize the Quality Assurance (QA) Checklist.
- Manage daily operations in the absence of the Chief Therapist and ensure treatment rooms are organized and adequately stocked.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the physicist or engineer and adhere to radiation safety regulations.
Quality Assurance and Patient Care:
- Actively participate in QA procedures, including weekly chart reviews and dose verifications.
- Schedule simulation and treatment procedures, providing patients with clear appointment information.
- Educate patients about what to expect during their treatment and ensure all consent forms are signed prior to procedures.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of progressive clinical experience is required.
- Must possess a Maryland Board of Physicians License 'O' as a Radiation Therapist or 'M' as a Radiation Therapist and Radiographer.
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is mandatory.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification with AED is required.
