We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at the University of Maryland Medical System. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Proton Therapy Center.
Key Responsibilities- Administer Radiation Therapy: Deliver prescribed radiation therapy treatments to patients as per physician instructions, adhering to established standards and practices.
- Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with physicists, planning and mold technicians, supportive care physicians, nurses, and social workers to implement therapy plans.
- Prepare Treatment Rooms: Ensure treatment rooms are prepared according to prescriptions, including placement of immobilization devices, setting of field size, and setting of treatment devices.
- Monitor Patient Safety: Maintain visual and/or audible contact with patients during treatment, observe radiation safety measures, and report any unusual reactions or events to designated supervisory personnel.
- Document Patient Information: Accurately document patient treatment, charges, and other relevant information in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Education and Experience: Graduation from an AMA-approved program in Radiation Therapy Technology or Radiologic Technology, registration as a Radiation Therapy Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT), and licensure in Radiation Therapy Technology within the state of Maryland.
- Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of radiologic technology, radiation therapy, routine nursing procedures, radiation protection and safety procedures, and ability to operate various types of radiation therapy equipment.
