POSITION TITLE:
Payroll Auditor

REPORTS TO (TITLE): Controller

POSITION SUMMARY:
This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of payroll processes and compliance with applicable regulations. The Payroll Auditor is tasked with verifying employee time records, generating payroll audit documentation, and analyzing employee data.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Scrutinizes timecards for precision and confirms payroll entries align with established schedules.
  • Alerts department heads regarding any discrepancies in time clock entries and monitors the prompt resolution of these issues.
  • Oversees timecards to identify missed or late meal breaks, ensuring compliance with state regulations and educating staff to prevent future infractions.
  • Evaluates the accuracy of timeclock usage versus manual entries made by management, providing guidance to staff on proper timekeeping practices.
  • Generates regular reports comparing staffing levels to patient census, overtime, and missed meal occurrences, aiding in the identification of areas needing improvement.
  • Reviews contract employee timecards to ensure optimal utilization of contracted personnel, addressing any concerns regarding overtime or absences, and verifying agency invoices for accuracy.
  • Monitors attendance metrics, including absenteeism and tardiness.
  • Serves as a backup for Accounting Specialists in Accounts Payable and Payroll Processing tasks.
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned, maintaining the organization's ethical standards and commitment to customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare accounting and/or payroll is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with Federal and State employment and wage regulations.
  • Experience with ADP, UKG Payroll systems, and document management systems is advantageous.
  • Proven ability to manage intricate and detailed records effectively.
  • Experience in the healthcare sector is preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

  • Capable of working autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.

  • Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
In the execution of this role, the following physical activities may be required:

  • Use of standard office equipment and the ability to input and retrieve information from a computer.
  • Effective communication in person or via telephone with a diverse audience.
  • Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
  • Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic; interpret laws and regulations; analyze intricate data.
  • Vision capabilities to observe details at close range.
  • Coordination of multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and move throughout the work area as needed.
  • Capability to lift items weighing up to five (5) pounds.
