POSITION SUMMARY:


Protect Our Water Jackson Hole (POWJH) is in search of a dedicated Chief Executive Officer who embodies a strong commitment to our mission of safeguarding and revitalizing the water resources in Teton County, Wyoming.

The CEO will oversee all facets of the organization’s operations, including fundraising, program development, marketing and communications, financial oversight, and staff management. As a mentor, the CEO will inspire and empower the team to excel in their roles.

In addition to operational duties, the CEO will be a dynamic leader who motivates others to engage with our mission. They will collaborate closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization effectively fulfills its mission and serves its community.

The CEO will also be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, partners, and community leaders.

Our ideal candidate will be a motivational leader with a proven history of success in nonprofit management. They will be passionate about our mission and dedicated to achieving our objectives. The CEO will be a strategic thinker capable of balancing immediate needs with long-term planning, possessing excellent communication skills to represent our organization to diverse audiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Organizational Leadership and Board Relations
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization is fulfilling its mission.
Provide regular updates to the Board regarding the organization’s operations and performance.

Work with the Board to develop and implement policies that support the organization’s mission and goals.

Oversee financial management in partnership with the Board’s Advancement and Outreach Committee, ensuring financial stability and sustainability.

Develop and manage the annual budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Monitor financial performance, adjusting as necessary to maintain budgetary compliance.

Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to the Board, collaborating with the Finance Committee for detailed analysis.

Identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings while maintaining financial stability.

Stay informed on best practices in nonprofit financial management and ensure compliance with regulations.

Fundraising and Development

Design and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, focusing on securing major gifts and individual donations.

Build relationships with high-level donors and foundations, engaging them in the organization’s mission.

Work with the Board to establish fundraising priorities, including campaigns and grant applications.

Lead staff and volunteers in fundraising efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

Develop donor stewardship plans to maintain strong relationships and secure ongoing support.

Ensure fundraising goals are met, monitoring progress and making necessary adjustments.

Continuously improve fundraising efforts through collaboration with the Board and stakeholders.

Provide leadership and support to staff, fostering a positive work environment and promoting teamwork.

Offer regular feedback and development plans to support staff growth and performance.

Model the organization’s values and ensure ethical behavior in all interactions.

Program Development and Management

Implement a strategic program planning process to identify programs that align with the organization’s mission.

Manage day-to-day program operations, ensuring effective execution and impact.

Evaluate program outcomes regularly, using feedback for continuous improvement.

Build relationships with local and state officials and external stakeholders.

Expand programs as needed to fulfill the organization’s mission, identifying growth opportunities.

Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical standards.

Promote programs to key stakeholders to increase awareness and support.

Marketing, Communications & Public Engagement
Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy to enhance the organization’s visibility.
Create and maintain the organization’s brand across all channels.
Act as the spokesperson, representing the organization at public events.
Build relationships with media outlets to secure coverage and promote activities.
Strategic Planning
Work with the Board and staff to implement the strategic plan.
Conduct assessments of performance and adjust the strategic plan as necessary.
Identify opportunities for innovation and develop plans to pursue them.
Ensure alignment of programs with the strategic plan and organizational values.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, public administration, or environmental management).
Minimum of ten years of experience in nonprofit or related management.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated experience in fundraising and development.
Knowledge of financial management and budgeting.
Basic understanding of relevant science and regulatory requirements.
Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
Passion for the organization’s mission and values.

COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time, exempt position with a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

OVERVIEW:


Protect Our Water Jackson Hole is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization advocating for the protection and restoration of water resources in Teton County, Wyoming.

POWJH operates as a science-based, nonpartisan organization working with public and private entities to implement best practices for water quality protection.

Initially formed as 'Friends of Fish Creek' by concerned citizens, the organization has expanded its mission to address rising threats to local water resources.

POWJH is the catalyst for the Teton County Water Quality Management Plan (WQMP) and has successfully advocated for funding for critical water quality initiatives.

The organization is committed to protecting the Snake River and its tributaries, which provide essential habitat and are recognized for their scenic and recreational value.
