Position Title: Bus Rider

Department: Enhancing Children's Lives

Supervisor: Director of ILC Operations

Salary Range: $16.00

Employment Status: Non-Exempt – Part-Time/Full-Time

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; Split Shift based on the needs of the Children's Center. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required.

PRIMARY ROLE: Assist the driver in the safe transportation of children to and from the YWCA Children's Center using a mini bus.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Physically capable of fulfilling all responsibilities associated with mini bus operations.
  3. Ability to comply with Bureau of Regulatory Services licensing standards.
  4. Current certifications in CPR, first aid, and blood-borne pathogens (provided by the organization).
  5. Successful completion of criminal and child abuse history checks.
  6. Proven ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  7. Strong communication skills with children, parents, and YWCA staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Safely operate the mini bus.
  2. Promptly report any malfunctions or issues with the mini bus to the Director of ILC Operations.
  3. Interact effectively with children of various ages and YWCA Child Care providers during transport.
  4. Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information acquired through the role.
  5. Adhere to the organization's driving policies.
  6. Comply with all relevant local, state, and federal licensing requirements and regulations.
  7. Collaborate effectively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  9. Maintain cleanliness and service the mini bus, including interior cleaning, exterior washing, and replenishing fuel and fluids as necessary.

  2. Off-site locations
  3. Potential outdoor events
  4. Physical activities include sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting
  5. Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit
  6. Continually required to use hand and finger dexterity
  7. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl
  8. Frequently required to communicate verbally or listen
  9. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions (non-weather related)
  10. Regularly working near moving mechanical parts
  11. Occasional work in elevated or precarious locations
  12. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or hazardous chemicals
  13. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  14. Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (non-weather related)
  15. Occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  16. Noise levels in the work environment may vary from quiet to loud
  17. Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 pounds
  18. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  19. Specialized equipment used: Mini Bus

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose, and One Imperative.
  2. Racial Justice Training.
  3. Orientation to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Confidentiality, and Mandatory Reporting.
  4. Additional relevant training and in-service opportunities will be provided during employment.
