Position Title: Bus Rider

Department: Enhancing Children's Lives

Reporting To: ILC Operations Director

Salary Range: $16.00

Employment Status: Non-Exempt – Part-Time/Full-Time

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday; Split Shift based on the requirements of the Children's Center. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be necessary.

PRIMARY ROLE: Assist the driver in safely transporting children to and from the YWCA Children's Center using a mini bus.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Physically capable of performing all tasks related to mini bus operations.
  3. Ability to fulfill the requirements set by the Bureau of Regulatory Services for licensing.
  4. Current certifications in CPR, first aid, and blood-borne pathogens (provided by the agency).
  5. Positive outcomes from criminal and child abuse background checks.
  6. Proven ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  7. Strong communication skills with students, parents, and YWCA staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Safely operate the mini bus in an efficient manner.
  2. Promptly report any defective equipment to the ILC Operations Director.
  3. Interact effectively with children of various ages and YWCA Child Care providers on the bus.
  4. Protect confidential information acquired through the position.
  5. Adhere to the association's driving policies.
  6. Comply with all relevant local, state, and federal licensing requirements and regulations.
  7. Collaborate effectively with program participants, YWCA staff, and volunteers.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  9. Maintain and service the mini bus, including interior cleaning, exterior washing, and refueling as necessary.

  3. Potential outdoor events
  4. Physical activities: sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting
  5. Regularly required to stand, walk, and sit
  6. Consistently required to use hand and finger dexterity
  7. Occasionally required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel, or crawl
  8. Frequently required to communicate verbally or listen
  9. Occasionally required to taste or smell
  10. Occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions (non-weather related)
  11. Consistently work near moving mechanical parts
  12. Occasional work in high or precarious places
  13. Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic substances
  14. Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions
  15. Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures (non-weather related)
  16. Occasional exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials
  17. Noise levels in the work environment may vary from quiet to loud
  18. Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 40 pounds
  19. Specific vision abilities required include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose, and One Imperative.
  2. Racial Justice Training.
  3. Orientation to Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Confidentiality, and Mandatory Reporting.
  4. Additional relevant training and in-service opportunities during employment.
