We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Lead Educator to join our team at YWCA Kalamazoo. Key Responsibilities- Curriculum Implementation: Organize and implement age-appropriate learning activities and experiences with individual children and small and large groups within the approved curriculum.
- Assessment and Observation: Observe and assess children's development using Teaching Strategies GOLD and ASQ-3/ASQ-SE.
- Communication and Collaboration: Work cooperatively with the assistant site director to resolve programmatic or family concerns, and participate in mealtime activities with children to encourage good eating habits and socialization.
- Child Safety and Well-being: Supervise children's activities to ensure safety, and report any health concerns or incidents to parents and the assistant director.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development, including training on anti-bias education, racial justice, and gender equity issues.
- Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required; significant post-high school education or training in early childhood education or child/family-related fields, or Associate's/Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Elementary Education.
- Qualifications: CDA in infants/toddlers required; two years of classroom experience, post CDA certification; two years of experience working with young children within a licensed childcare facility.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong teamwork, interpersonal communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to maintain positive working relationships with team members and parents.
- Physical Demands: Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Environmental Factors: Continually required to talk or hear; occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and extreme heat or cold.
- YWCA Orientation: Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose, and One Imperative.
- Racial Justice Training: Racial Justice Training.
- Child Care Licensing Training: All required state of Michigan Child Care Licensing training requirements.
- Ongoing Professional Development: Minimum 24 hours of ongoing professional development per year.
