The Lead Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in assisting the Engineering Manager with the oversight of the design, optimization, certification, and change management processes for Floating Offshore Wind Farms.

This position requires a robust technical foundation in offshore wind, onshore wind, or related engineering disciplines.

The Lead Project Engineer will primarily focus on advancing RWE's Floating Offshore Wind initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate engineering activities to produce competitive and optimized designs.
  • Coordinate project-level design and optimization efforts, including capacity planning, layout selection, energy production forecasting, and cost estimation.
  • Develop essential project documentation, including Basis of Design, Scope of Work for contractors, and Requirement Specifications.
  • Generate engineering documentation such as technical notes, reports, and decision logs.
  • Oversee contractor activities and evaluate deliverables to ensure alignment with project requirements.
  • Manage multidisciplinary activities, ensuring effective communication and prioritization of safety and project objectives.
  • Promote continuous improvement within engineering processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of engineering decisions and workstreams.
  • Prepare information for technical and commercial decision-making.
  • Coordinate across engineering disciplines and with internal departments and contractors.
  • Stay informed of technological advancements through collaboration with industry experts.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution (Civil, Mechanical, Ocean, Electrical, Naval, etc.).
  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in Offshore Wind, Onshore Wind, Offshore Oil and Gas, or similar large-scale projects.
  • Multi-disciplinary expertise with exposure to various Offshore Wind technical fields.
  • Proficient in engineering system design, optimization, and cost estimation.
  • Strong organizational skills and project management experience.
  • Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Innovative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Experience in managing engineering and design teams is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the competitive offshore wind landscape is preferred.
  • Current or anticipated Project Management Professional certification is a plus.
  • Current or progressing toward Professional Engineer license is preferred.

Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
