Your Role

Stantec excels in the design of Transit Facilities across North America, focusing on the planning and development of bus and rail stations, maintenance facilities, multimodal transit hubs, and park-and-ride locations. We are leaders in creating sustainable environments that redefine civic and transit spaces. Our commitment is to deliver transformative design solutions that not only meet but exceed our clients' expectations through collaborative efforts. We are seeking a SENIOR ARCHITECT who possesses a deep understanding of transit, infrastructure, and civic projects. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with senior leadership to guide clients through the planning and execution of sustainable, award-winning designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee complex tasks across multiple intricate projects.
  • Lead efforts to secure new projects through effective presentations and interviews.
  • Organize and direct project workflows to ensure successful delivery to clients.
  • Collaborate with clients and project teams to ensure design aligns with budget, schedule, and program requirements.
  • Negotiate project agreements in partnership with Stantec leadership.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and overall work plans to achieve financial goals.
  • Foster client relationships and provide strategic insights to leadership.
  • Mentor and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Facilitate project coordination and meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage change orders and contractual modifications impacting project budgets and timelines.
  • Assist in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.
  • Oversee client invoicing and manage collections effectively.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience

  • Extensive experience in project management and proposal responses.
  • Established relationships with transit agencies in the SF Bay area.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of accessibility and life-safety codes, construction systems, and industry standards.
  • Proactive in taking initiative without requiring constant supervision.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with clients and project teams.
  • Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with project management software such as Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Project.
  • Understanding of architectural and engineering system concepts.
  • Experience with design/build project delivery and LEAN design practices is preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and local agency standards and the ability to educate others.
  • Quickly develop design alternatives and solutions.
  • Proficient in design and technical concepts.

Education and Experience

A minimum of 10 years of professional experience is required. Candidates should be graduates of accredited architectural programs and possess experience in an architectural office. Licensure in California is required or must be attainable within one year. LEED AP or relevant project experience is preferred.

Work Environment

This position typically involves working in an office environment with prolonged periods of computer use. Fieldwork may require exposure to various weather conditions.
