Position Summary

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating forklifts efficiently and safely, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations. This role requires the ability to work independently while managing various material handling tasks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret job specifications to make necessary adjustments to equipment and determine material needs.
  • Carefully position forks or other lifting devices to handle loaded pallets, skids, and various materials.
  • Attach tow trucks to trailers and transport loads to designated locations.
  • Unload and stack materials by operating lifting devices effectively.
  • Conduct inventory checks on the work floor and supply materials to coworkers as required.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as recharging batteries and lubricating equipment.
  • Weigh and record materials or products accurately.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the assigned work area.
  • Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of two years of relevant experience in a similar role, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Must successfully complete an internal certification program.
  • Proficient in operating equipment, including the ability to move levers and manipulate controls.
  • Ability to read and understand safety guidelines and operational manuals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measuring and recording data.
  • Ability to follow instructions and solve problems in standardized situations.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Capability to perform repetitive motions with hands and arms.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
