We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Specialist to join our team at the Oklahoma School for the Blind. As a Direct Care Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct care and supervision to students who are blind or visually impaired.
Key Responsibilities- Assist teachers and students in daily classroom settings with activities and distributing learning materials.
- Provide assistance to students in basic living skills, including daily work assignments and daily hygiene.
- Provide direct care to students who are blind or visually impaired, including assistance with educational plans and daily routines.
- Transport students daily/weekly to and from home and school, as well as on recreational events.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including dormitory settings.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience working with children or adults with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform job-related travel.
- Valid Oklahoma driver's license required.
