Position Summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating forklifts in a safe and efficient manner, following all safety protocols and regulations. This role requires a keen attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret job specifications to determine necessary adjustments and material needs.
- Position forks or other lifting devices under or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials.
- Attach tow trucks to trailer hitches and transport loads to designated areas.
- Unload and stack materials by operating lifting devices.
- Conduct inventory checks on the work floor and supply materials to workers as required.
- Perform routine maintenance, including recharging batteries, lubricating, fueling, and cleaning equipment.
- Weigh materials or products and document weights accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the assigned work area.
- Execute additional duties as assigned, related to the job's nature.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following qualifications are necessary:
- High school diploma or equivalent; at least two years of relevant experience in related trades, or a combination of education and experience.
- Ability to pass an internal certification program.
- Proficient in operating equipment, including moving levers, shifting gears, and maneuvering steering wheels.
- Capable of reading and interpreting safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
- Ability to follow instructions in various formats.
- Problem-solving skills in standardized situations.
- High accuracy in work assignments.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Capability to perform repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders.
- Flexibility to work varied schedules.
