Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Heavy Equipment Operator role involves working on an 8-12 hour rotating shift under the supervision of the Department Supervisor/Manager. This position is responsible for operating a large capacity industrial truck, specifically designed for loading and unloading oilfield tubulars on and off production lines, storage areas, and transport vehicles. Additionally, the operator will oversee inventory management for the materials handled, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and operational standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain quality and quantity standards for work output.
  • Ensure proper care, usage, and storage of tools and equipment.
  • Follow all corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work scheduled shifts, including potential extended hours as necessary.
  • Complete tasks accurately and promptly as directed by supervisors.
  • Collaborate effectively in both individual and team settings.
  • Report any operational discrepancies to management.
  • Prepare for and execute essential job functions, including:
    • Certification in Small Forklift and Large Capacity Wheel Loader operations.
    • Effective communication via radio, phone, or in-person.
    • Conduct daily equipment maintenance checks.
    • Operate machinery safely and efficiently.
    • Verify materials and quantities before and after processing.
    • Maintain accurate records of material movements.
    • Ensure proper handling and storage of products.
    • Separate materials according to specifications.
    • Procure and deliver necessary testing materials.
    • Manage consumable supplies effectively.
    • Keep the work area organized and clean.
    • Accurately operate measurement tools.
    • Utilize product handling tools correctly.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by supervisors.

  • Capable of developing alternative solutions.

  • Proficient in the proper use of equipment and materials.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or bend for extended periods.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to work in challenging environmental conditions.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of forklift operation experience.
  • Preferred: Certification in Large Capacity Forklift operation.
