Position Overview:

Join Turn2Partners as an Appellate Specialist, where you will play a crucial role in supporting our Supreme Court and Appellate practice areas. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in legal procedures and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive paralegal assistance for high-profile litigation cases.
  • Work collaboratively with legal teams to ensure thorough preparation for appellate proceedings.
  • Perform meticulous cite-checking, Bluebooking, and proofreading, while preparing essential tables for briefs, motions, and other legal submissions.
  • Draft various routine and procedural legal documents.
  • Compile and prepare PDFs of appellate materials, including joint appendices.
  • Manage electronic filing of documents through PACER/ACMS and other relevant systems.
  • Retrieve and analyze case docket and document information using PACER, PacerPro, and state court online resources.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for oral arguments by creating comprehensive case information binders.
  • Support attorneys in navigating federal court bar admissions and obtaining pro hac vice status in state jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate with Clerk's Offices as necessary to facilitate the work of Appellate lawyers.
  • Encourage participation in the firm's Global Citizenship initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Expertise in Bluebooking, cite-checking, and brief preparation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in paralegal or trial preparation roles within federal courts is preferred.
  • Experience as a litigation paralegal is advantageous due to relevant skills in cite-checking and Bluebooking.
  • A Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Strong proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Word, PDF, Westlaw, and LexisNexis.
  • Familiarity with court rules and procedural requirements for the U.S. Supreme Court and all federal courts of appeals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in appellate law is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with PACER and ACMS filing systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of appellate state court regulations is a plus.
  • Experience in a large law firm setting is beneficial, though candidates from mid-size or boutique firms are also encouraged to apply.
