Job Description

Legal Aid Society Of DC's Appellate Project is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to assist with appellate litigation and advocacy efforts. The intern will work closely with the Appellate Director and Fellow to research and write briefs, motions, and client correspondence, as well as assist with preparation for and observation of moot courts and oral arguments.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct legal research and analysis for active and potential appeals
  • Write and edit briefs, motions, and client correspondence
  • Assist with client communications and outreach
  • Prepare for and observe moot courts and oral arguments
  • Take notes and participate in project meetings
  • Review publicly available documents regarding pending appeals
Requirements:

Current law student or graduate interested in public interest and appellate law.

Scholarship Funding:

The intern will receive a scholarship of $2,500 for the 12-week internship. However, interns will not receive scholarship funding if they receive outside funding for their internship or are interning through a school program that precludes them from being paid.
