Position Overview


Our laboratory in Dayton, NJ is thrilled to present an internship opportunity for individuals interested in a Laboratory Assistant position.

We seek candidates who can dedicate 20 hours per week throughout the fall semester. This is a compensated internship opportunity.


The Laboratory Assistant will engage in a diverse range of support activities for Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts, ensuring optimal quality by adhering to SGS' Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

The Laboratory Assistant will work both independently and collaboratively to guarantee the timely completion of all assigned responsibilities. The Laboratory Assistant is expected to consistently follow safe laboratory protocols and maintain a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Manage the checkout of supplies from the supply room.
• Ensure an adequate inventory of accessories, consumables, chemicals, etc., in each laboratory to promote efficient production operations.
• Dispose of samples following the designated retention period.
• Record data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and manage the disposal of expired or depleted chemicals.
• Prepare non-treated in-house media.
• Clean and decontaminate laboratory glassware, containers, and accessories in accordance with SOPs.
• Execute administrative tasks as required.
• Comply with internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Undertake additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma (Required)
• High school diploma with 1-2 years of general work experience (Preferred)
• Proficient English language skills (Required)
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
• Basic computer proficiency (Required)
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull weights of up to 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
