Are you an experienced Clinical Laboratory Histotechnologist seeking a fulfilling career opportunity in the Buffalo, New York region? K.A. Recruiting is currently in search of a committed professional to become a vital part of our laboratory team on a permanent basis. In this role, you will be instrumental in our laboratory processes, executing a variety of histological tasks with accuracy and efficiency.

Compensation: Based on experience ($30 - $50 / hour)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct specimen embedding and microtomy in accordance with established protocols.
  • Engage actively in quality control and assurance procedures to guarantee precise results.
  • Organize and file blocks and slides meticulously, ensuring proper documentation and facilitating slide distribution.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies as necessary.
  • Effectively utilize Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Powerpath, and Omni-Trax for data management.
  • Operate the Cryostat efficiently for the preparation of frozen sections.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and utilize various histology equipment, including tissue processors and staining machines.
  • Perform slide cover slipping and labeling with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Execute H/E and special staining techniques and prepare necessary solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of NYSDOH (New York State Department of Health) licensure as a Certified Clinical Laboratory Histotechnician, Histotechnologist, Technician, or Technologist.
  • An Associate's Degree in a relevant field as defined by NYS clinical laboratory licensing requirements.
  • A high school diploma may be considered if the individual has relevant experience as defined by NYS and has obtained their NYS license through the grandparenting pathway.
  • Between 6 months to 1 year of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory.
  • Familiarity with computer systems and proficiency in relevant software applications.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
