Overview
The Director of Interior Construction Management is tasked with overseeing the administrative and technical aspects of directing and supervising the Interior Construction & Maintenance Service teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive programs for University Interior construction and maintenance services.
  • Prepare and manage departmental budgets, ensuring adherence to established procedures and personnel functions.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with compliance officials, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Create training and apprenticeship initiatives to enhance staff skill sets and oversee the career progression for skilled trades personnel.
  • Hold team leaders accountable for performance and engagement by setting clear expectations and providing consistent feedback.
  • Lead the facilities maintenance team, including staffing, training, and supervision, while coordinating with other maintenance areas for efficient service delivery.
  • Collaborate with various campus groups to ensure effective communication and coordination of maintenance services.
  • Supervise staff to ensure proper implementation and tracking of maintenance programs.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations in accordance with federal, state, and university policies.
  • Participate in strategic planning for the Facilities Maintenance team and contribute to the development of the Facilities Deferred Maintenance Plan.
  • Review and authorize procedures for emergency and routine repairs, as well as preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assist in establishing budget priorities and resource allocation for the department.
  • Engage in process improvement initiatives to address performance issues related to design standards or system failures.
  • Coordinate with ongoing construction projects to facilitate smooth transitions to maintenance operations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with various departments to ensure quality control and customer satisfaction.

Interim Responsibilities
Act as the interim Director of Maintenance in the absence of the Director of Facilities Maintenance.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree with four years of relevant experience in facilities or grounds services, or a Bachelor’s degree with six years of related experience.
  • Valid Florida or Georgia driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
  • Extensive experience in building trades with a thorough understanding of building codes and regulations.
  • Over ten years of leadership experience in construction trades managing skilled personnel.
  • Experience in higher education facilities is preferred.
