Position Summary:
Ascot acknowledges that a leader in cyber offense is essential for achieving its cybersecurity strategic goals.
Reporting directly to the Chief Information Security Officer, the Vice President of Cybersecurity Operations will spearhead our cyber offense initiatives and play a crucial role in preparing the organization against the evolving tactics, techniques, and procedures of threat actors.
This position requires a hands-on approach, where the ideal candidate will provide strategic guidance while managing daily operations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the cyber offense operations, which include vulnerability and threat management, continuous monitoring, and application security, addressing all facets of personnel, processes, and technology.
- Formulate a comprehensive offensive security strategy to proactively detect vulnerabilities and weaknesses within the organization's environment, systems, and applications.
- Identify top-tier vendors and tools that will support the cyber offense strategic objectives.
- Enhance the vulnerability, patch management, and application security program by establishing relevant standards, processes, and a schedule for ongoing monitoring, as well as internal and external scans of the environment.
- Collaborate with vendors to simulate real-world attacks and coordinate red, blue, and purple team exercises to bolster the security posture.
- Oversee penetration testing activities to identify vulnerabilities and develop a remediation action plan, considering industry benchmark SLAs, asset criticality, and severity ratings.
- Integrate application security best practices into development processes to ensure a secure system development lifecycle.
- Work closely with asset owners, IT teams, and business units to incorporate findings into comprehensive risk management frameworks.
- Utilize vulnerability databases and intelligence sources to assess risks, likelihood of exposure, criticality, remediation options, and workarounds based on compensating controls.
- Investigate new tactics, techniques, and procedures in both public and private forums, implementing and validating controls as necessary.
- Identify exposure points and collaborate with the cyber defense team to ascertain the presence of indicators of compromise within the environment and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Develop metrics, key performance indicators, and key risk indicators, communicating with various leadership levels to enhance stakeholder awareness across both technical and non-technical audiences, as well as the business, enterprise risk, and IT.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 12 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a strong emphasis on establishing and leading vulnerability management and application security programs.
- Preferred certifications include CISSP, CCSP, CEH, and OSCP.
- Comprehensive understanding of OWASP, CVSS/CVE, the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and the software development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with existing threat actor techniques and experience in implementing effective controls.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills to guide the information security team, collaborate with other business units, and engage with vendors.
- Knowledge of the design and deployment of cloud-hosted infrastructure and applications.
- Experience with industry cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS, and ISO27001.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance, including Lloyd's cyber principles, PRA/FCA, NYS DFS Part 500, BMA Cyber Code of Conduct, GDPR, and CCPA.
Compensation:
Actual base pay may vary and could be above or below the listed range based on factors such as experience, subject matter expertise, and skills. The base pay is just one component of Ascot's total compensation package, which may also include an annual cash bonus and other discretionary compensation awarded by the Company.
