Job Summary

Visa is seeking a highly skilled Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join our IT Disaster Recovery team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for advancing the development and execution of our Disaster Recovery Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Business and Technology Units: Work with various teams to identify critical functions, define recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs).
  • Develop and Implement Disaster Recovery Program: Establish best-practices for disaster recovery, ensuring information security measures and processes are in place.
  • Validate and Maintain Disaster Recovery Plan: Regularly test and update the disaster recovery plan to ensure Visa's readiness to maintain or restore systems online during a disaster event.
  • Lead Annual DR Testing Activities: Coordinate and execute annual disaster recovery testing to ensure Visa's systems are resilient and can recover quickly in the event of a disaster.
  • Apply Technical Expertise: Utilize knowledge of network configurations, VPNs, firewalls, and other network components to investigate and provide guidance on potential network issues.
  • Cloud-Hosted Services Expertise: Implement and manage disaster recovery processes using cloud-hosted services.
  • Storage and Database Expertise: Define protective measures for data, including backups, replication, and encryption, and provide expertise on data backup, restoration, replication, and database failover procedures.
  • Middleware Expertise: Integrate diverse and complex systems using platforms such as Java Web Services, Apache Kafka/Tomcat, Hazelcast.
  • Documentation and Governance: Develop and maintain necessary documentation, including impact analysis, risk assessment, and DR/resiliency standards for service architecture and technology domain patterns.

Qualifications
  • Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 6 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
