Position Overview:
Join Lockheed Martin Space, a leader in innovative technology solutions. Our Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) team has a legacy of over 60 years in supporting the Navy's strategic defense mission.

As a Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the FBM D5 Life Extension 2 (D5LE2) Program Design For x (DFx). This position offers a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking technologies that enhance national security and support our allies.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate and execute DFx strategies and methodologies for the D5LE2 Program throughout the product lifecycle, from inception to retirement.
  • Collaborate with production, assembly, testing, and field support teams to establish comprehensive DFx objectives and requirements.
  • Oversee the integration of DFx goals into product development initiatives, working closely with cross-functional teams.
  • Engage with product development teams to provide updates on DFx progress across various projects.

Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in systems engineering or product design.
  • Experience in a product development environment, either as a design or manufacturing engineer, utilizing a systematic approach to design for manufacturing or testing.
  • Proven knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing successful program or product improvement initiatives.
  • Experience working with government agencies or DoD customers.

Security Clearance:
Active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance is required.

Desired Skills:
  • Familiarity with Lockheed Martin's organizational structure, programs, and operational procedures.
  • Experience leading major design reviews such as SRR, PDR, and CDR.
  • Knowledge of FBM production, assembly, and testing processes.
  • Experience in reliability and quality engineering.
  • Proficiency in model-based engineering tools and methodologies.
  • Ability to lead and conduct trade studies effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills and a positive, adaptable attitude in dynamic settings.

Work Environment:
This position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for a combination of remote and on-site work at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
