About the Role

Visa is a leading financial technology company that enables global commerce through secure and reliable payment systems. We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Site Reliability Engineer to join our IT Disaster Recovery team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify critical business processes and develop disaster recovery plans to ensure minimal downtime and data loss.
  • Design and implement best-practice disaster recovery solutions to safeguard Visa's information assets and ensure business continuity.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead annual disaster recovery testing activities to ensure Visa's readiness to maintain or restore systems online during a disaster event.
  • Provide technical expertise in network configurations, VPNs, firewalls, and other network components to investigate and resolve potential network issues.
  • Utilize cloud-hosted services expertise to implement and manage disaster recovery processes.
  • Employ knowledge of storage devices and systems to define protective measures for data, including backups, replication, and encryption.
  • Utilize knowledge of databases to provide expertise on data backup, restoration, replication, and database failover procedures.
  • Effectively collaborate with middleware teams to integrate diverse and complex systems.
  • Develop and maintain necessary documentation, including impact analysis, risk assessment, and disaster recovery/resiliency standards for service architecture and technology domain patterns.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or 8+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: 6 or more years of work experience with a bachelor's degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD.
  • 3 years' experience in business continuity and disaster recovery planning.
  • 3 years' experience working with IT departments in building Disaster Recovery/BC plans.
  • 4+ years working knowledge of critical business processes, products, and services.
  • 2+ years' experience as a Technical Architecture with strong application of Resiliency Architecture and Design Patterns.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication, administrative, and computing skills.
  • Good understanding of Application/System/Infrastructure architectures and Backup/Restoration solution and strategies that can be implemented to maximize data availability and mitigate the risk of business interruption or data loss.
  • Strong understanding of BCM and its integral partnership with IT Disaster Recovery at both technical and business levels.
  • Capable of developing strong and cooperative inter-departmental partnerships for joint actions.
