Position: Senior Cost Consultant

Overview:

As a pivotal member of our team, the Senior Cost Consultant will oversee the financial management of construction projects, ensuring that budgets are adhered to and that costs are effectively controlled throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the estimation and negotiation of change orders during the construction process.
  • Provide comprehensive cost planning, including the development and presentation of final cost plans.
  • Collaborate with design teams and contractors to refine cost estimates.
  • Ensure accurate data reconciliation with contractors to maintain project integrity.
  • Engage with project stakeholders to gather updates and prepare cost estimate revisions.
  • Draft detailed responses to contractor submissions, including executive summaries.
  • Coordinate various sources of cost information for discussions with suppliers and contractors.
  • Drive engineering priorities based on financial implications.
  • Proactively resolve scheduling conflicts with minimal oversight.
  • Conduct cost checks and valuations on significant projects, ensuring timely and precise processes.
  • Participate in managing post-contract cost variances and change control mechanisms.
  • Oversee cost impact assessments and maintain commitment tracking logs.
  • Prepare funding presentations and facilitate value engineering sessions with stakeholders.

Pre-Contract Responsibilities:

  • Develop cost plans and estimates throughout the design phase, delivering updates at key milestones.
  • Provide commercial insights during design evaluations and value engineering initiatives.
  • Review pricing from contractors and subcontractors, leading negotiations to secure fair contract terms.

Post-Contract Responsibilities:

  • Execute quantity surveying, cost control, and change management tasks throughout the project.
  • Ensure effective management of post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Oversee cost auditing and valuation, establishing robust validation processes.
  • Compile monthly cost reports for client presentations.
  • Facilitate timely negotiations and agreements on final accounts.
  • Maintain as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in construction cost management.
  • Degree in construction management, cost management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience managing costs across the full lifecycle of commercial real estate projects.
  • RICS accreditation or progress towards it is advantageous.
  • Experience with large-scale data center or mission-critical projects is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction industry practices, including procurement routes and value management.
