Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to secure major gifts and support from alumni, corporations, and other external partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including academic leaders, faculty, staff, donors, and volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the dean and other senior leaders to advance the university's strategic priorities and goals.
  • Lead a team of professional fundraisers and volunteers to achieve fundraising objectives.
  • Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage stakeholders and promote the university's mission and goals.
  • Manage and analyze fundraising data to inform strategic decisions and optimize fundraising efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, external relations, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in soliciting major gifts and/or prior experience with solicitations of a similar nature, level, and complexity.
  • Expert knowledge of principles and practices of major gift fundraising in a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement a comprehensive development or similar program of comparable size and complexity.
  • Appropriate management and administrative skills needed to organize, direct, motivate, and evaluate other professionals and volunteers.
  • Excellent communication skills to express, both orally and in writing, the mission of the university and the fundraising goals of the campus.
  • Effective verbal communication skills to make persuasive oral presentations to senior management and internal and external constituencies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with academic leaders, faculty, staff, donors, and volunteers.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills aligned with the ability to implement and follow through.
  • Steadfast commitment to work of impeccable integrity with strong analytical and organizational skills to develop creative, credible solutions, recommendations, and programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
  • Some travel required.
