Position Overview:


The Registered Dietitian is responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical nutrition services, which include nutritional evaluations, tailored diet plans, nutrition counseling, and education to ensure optimal nutrition care for patients, clients, and staff.

This role encompasses therapeutic diet instruction, patient engagement, and nutritional support initiatives.

The Registered Dietitian is dedicated to ensuring patient satisfaction, maintaining high-quality care, adhering to regulatory standards, and fostering positive public relations through the effective use of resources.

The individual must be prepared to take on limited responsibilities and authority while demonstrating the ability to perform under pressure and accept constructive feedback.

Exemplary courtesy and professionalism towards patients, visitors, medical personnel, and other healthcare staff are essential.

Demonstrating sound clinical judgment and applying professional expertise to a diverse patient demographic is a critical expectation.

All duties performed must align with the established procedures and policies of Singing River Health System, as well as comply with accreditation standards and guidelines for healthcare professionals.


Education:


A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college, with coursework recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.


License:

Required:

Current registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or eligibility to complete the registration examination (must pass the exam within a specified timeframe); licensed as a Dietitian in the relevant state; credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

Continuous professional education is necessary to maintain all required registrations and certifications.

Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in a clinical setting.

Assigned staff

Physical Demands:

Work is moderately active:

Involves sitting with frequent requirements to move throughout the facility and travel as needed.

Work may require a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including patients.

Employees must safely handle all supplies, equipment, and patients, with assistance, up to 50 pounds.

Active engagement for extended periods without undue fatigue is expected, along with adaptability to schedule changes as necessary.


Mental Demands:

Must exhibit strong mental acuity, assessment, and decision-making capabilities. Exceptional communication skills are required for effective interaction in person and via telephone. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Emotional stability is necessary for managing high-stress situations.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines is crucial, along with attention to detail and the capacity to multitask in complex environments.

Building and maintaining collaborative relationships within the organization and with external partners is vital.



Special Demands:

Critical thinking skills are essential. Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette are required.

Expertise in planning, organizing, and integrating complex programs is necessary, along with the ability to work independently and establish rapport with healthcare professionals.

Proficiency in computer use, including MS Office applications, is required, along with knowledge of nutrition principles and the relationship between nutrition and health.

Travel within the service area may be required, with the employee providing their own transportation. The ability to function independently, adapt to workload demands, and set priorities is essential.

Understanding automated data processing fundamentals and the ability to comprehend complex information within a limited timeframe is necessary.
