Position Overview:


The Registered Dietitian is responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical nutrition services, which include conducting nutritional assessments, developing tailored diet plans, providing nutrition counseling and consultation, as well as overseeing management and educational initiatives to ensure high-quality nutrition care for patients, staff, and the community.

This role involves therapeutic diet education and counseling, patient visits, and nutritional support services.

The Registered Dietitian plays a crucial role in ensuring patient satisfaction, maintaining quality care, adhering to regulatory standards, and fostering positive public relations through the effective and safe utilization of resources.

The individual must be prepared to accept a degree of responsibility and authority while demonstrating the ability to perform under pressure and respond constructively to feedback.

Exemplary courtesy and professionalism towards patients, visitors, medical personnel, and colleagues are essential.

He/She should exhibit sound clinical judgment and apply professional expertise to a diverse patient demographic.

All duties performed must align with the organization's policies, accreditation standards, and healthcare regulations.


Education:


A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution, with coursework recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.


License:

Required:

Current registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or eligibility to sit for the registration examination (must pass within six months of hire); licensure as a Dietitian in the relevant state; credentialing as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).

Ongoing professional education is required to maintain all necessary registrations and certifications.

Experience:

A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in a clinical environment.

Physical Demands:

Work is moderately active:

Involves sitting with frequent movement throughout the facility and travel to other locations as necessary.

Requires the ability to exert a negligible amount of force regularly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including patients.

Employees must safely handle and transport supplies, equipment, and patients, with assistance when necessary, up to 50 pounds.

Must maintain safe lifting practices and seek help as needed, regardless of weight, utilizing available resources.

Ability to remain active for extended periods without undue fatigue is essential.

Flexibility in work schedules is expected to accommodate the needs of the organization.


Mental Demands:

Must demonstrate strong analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written, are required to effectively interact with patients and staff.

Emotional stability is necessary for managing high-stress situations.

Attention to detail and the capacity to multitask in complex environments are crucial.

Ability to maintain respectful and collaborative relationships within the organization and with external partners is essential.


Special Demands:

Critical thinking skills are vital. Exceptional customer service skills and professional demeanor are required.

Must be adept at planning, organizing, and integrating complex programs, working independently, and establishing strong rapport with healthcare professionals.

Proficiency in computer usage, including MS Office applications, is necessary.

Knowledge of nutrition principles and the relationship between diet and health is expected.

Travel within the service area may be required, with employees providing their own transportation.

Ability to adapt to workload demands, prioritize tasks, and set achievable goals is essential.

Understanding of automated data processing fundamentals and the ability to navigate complex information systems is required.
