Nutritional Services Consultant

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive clinical nutrition services, which include nutritional evaluations, tailored dietary plans, nutrition education, and management of nutrition-related care for patients, staff, and community members.
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is dedicated to ensuring patient satisfaction, maintaining high-quality care, adhering to regulatory standards, and fostering positive community relations through the effective use of resources.
The individual must be prepared to accept limited responsibilities and demonstrate the ability to work efficiently under pressure while receiving constructive feedback.Exemplary courtesy and professionalism towards patients, visitors, medical personnel, and fellow staff members are essential.
They must exhibit sound clinical judgment and apply their expertise to a diverse patient demographic.
All duties performed are expected to align with Singing River Hospital's policies and procedures, as well as relevant accreditation standards and healthcare guidelines.
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and coursework recognized by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
License:

Required:
Current registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or eligibility to sit for the registration examination (must pass within 6 months of employment); licensed as a Dietitian in the State of Mississippi; credentialed as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Continuing professional education requirements must be met to maintain all necessary registrations and certifications.
Experience:
A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in a healthcare environment.

Work is moderately active:
It involves sitting with frequent movement throughout the facility and occasional travel to other locations within the service area.
Responsibilities include lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling objects, including patients, with a maximum weight of 50 pounds.
Employees are expected to utilize safe lifting techniques and seek assistance when necessary, regardless of the weight involved.
Extended periods of activity without undue fatigue are expected, along with flexibility in scheduling to accommodate hospital needs.
Mental Demands:
Must demonstrate strong cognitive abilities for assessment and decision-making. Excellent communication skills are essential for effective interaction in person and via telephone.
Written and verbal communication skills must be strong, with the ability to manage high-stress situations and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and the capacity to multitask in complex scenarios are required. Building collaborative and respectful relationships across departments is crucial.
Special Demands:
Critical thinking skills are vital. Exceptional customer service skills and professional demeanor are required.
Expertise in planning, organizing, and integrating multifaceted programs is necessary, along with the ability to work independently and establish rapport with healthcare professionals.
Proficiency in computer use, including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is essential. Knowledge of nutrition principles and the relationship between diet and health is required.Employees must be able to function independently, adapt to workload demands, prioritize tasks, and understand complex information in a timely manner.
