About Mighty Minds and Muscles Therapy & Coaching Services
Located in lower Manhattan, we are a dedicated provider of Special Education Teacher Support Services (SETSS). We are seeking qualified SETSS professionals to support children in various environments, including our sensory clinic.
Position Highlights:
- Part-time opportunities available for providing SETSS to clients in our clinic and their home or educational settings.
- Service areas include downtown locations.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for experienced Special Education Teachers to deliver individualized support to children aged 5 and above. Ideal candidates will have a background in working with children with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and Autism. Proficiency in Orton Gillingham methodologies or specialized phonics instruction is highly desirable.
All children in our care have unique needs and may require varying levels of support. Most sessions will take place at our therapy center, with some flexibility in scheduling to accommodate individual skill sets. Opportunities may also arise for roles as SEIT or for tutoring students with learning challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to children across diverse settings.
- Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to enhance learning, behavior, and self-care.
- Document daily progress, create reports, and develop educational materials in compliance with regulations.
- Engage in professional development to expand your skill set.
- Apply knowledge of sensory processing and behavior modification techniques.
- Exhibit strong communication skills and adaptability in various educational environments.
- Maintain professionalism and punctuality.
- Commit to fulfilling contractual obligations throughout the academic year.
Qualifications:
Experience in phonics instruction, working with non-verbal children, and using AAC devices is preferred.
- Education: Master’s Degree in Special Education
- Licensure: Certification in Students with Disabilities (Birth-2) or equivalent in Special Education
- Additional Requirements: Background check and fingerprinting.
