Position Summary

ExpertHiring is in search of a passionate and skilled Early Childhood Special Education Instructor to become a vital part of our educational team. The successful candidate will possess a robust background in special education, specifically in supporting young learners with varying needs. This role entails the creation and execution of tailored educational plans (IEPs) aimed at fostering the developmental and academic aspirations of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Instruction and Curriculum Design:
    • Craft and implement personalized instructional strategies that cater to the distinct requirements of each student.
    • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and execute IEPs, establishing achievable and measurable objectives.
    • Employ diverse teaching methods and resources to address the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of students.
    • Integrate play-based and sensory activities that promote early childhood growth.
  2. Assessment and Progress Tracking:
    • Conduct continuous evaluations to track student progress and modify teaching strategies as necessary.
    • Utilize both formal and informal assessment tools to gauge students' development and learning.
    • Maintain thorough and accurate records of student progress, ensuring regular communication with parents and team members.
  3. Classroom Environment Management:
    • Establish a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom atmosphere that fosters student engagement and participation.
    • Implement behavioral management techniques that encourage positive social interactions and self-regulation.
    • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and conducive learning environment for all students.
  4. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work in close partnership with fellow educators, therapists, and support staff to coordinate services and provide comprehensive support for students.
    • Maintain open lines of communication with parents and caregivers, offering regular updates on student progress and strategies for at-home support.
    • Engage in team meetings, parent conferences, and professional development activities.
  5. Professional Growth and Compliance:
    • Stay informed about best practices and research in early childhood special education.
    • Ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
    • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching competencies and knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related discipline.
  • Certification in Special Education or Early Childhood Special Education from New York State.
  • Experience in working with young children with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Strong grasp of child development and early intervention methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
Work Schedule
  • This is a full-time role, aligned with the school calendar year.
