LEEP Dual Language Academy Charter School is dedicated to fostering bilingualism and biculturalism among its students. Our institution utilizes a proven 90:10 model of Spanish language immersion, ensuring that all students excel academically while developing their language skills. Special education instructors at LEEP Academy collaborate with general education teachers within Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom environments.

At LEEP Academy, we meticulously plan our lessons using a shared set of high-quality curricula in both English and Spanish. We actively collect and analyze both formative and summative data to tailor our instruction to meet the unique needs of each student. Our approach emphasizes collaboration with families and service providers, ensuring that we address every child's requirements. We embody our school's Core Virtues: Cariño, Respeto, Valentía, Gratitud, y Alegría. Teachers typically work between 50-55 hours weekly, with core hours from 7:10 AM to 4:30 PM, including designated lunch and preparation periods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction based on each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust instructional strategies as necessary.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods to support students in achieving their IEP objectives.
  • Develop and implement annual IEP plans, detailing educational performance levels, special education needs, and required services.
  • Foster a positive learning atmosphere that emphasizes individualized instruction, including necessary accommodations and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress in a timely manner.
  • Analyze student work and performance to refine instructional approaches.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Complete district and state reporting requirements promptly.
  • Availability for occasional weekend and evening commitments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Spanish.
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • New York State Special Education Teaching License or enrollment in a certification program.
  • Experience participating in IEP meetings.
  • Fingerprint clearance.
  • Comprehensive understanding of special education principles and effective teaching methodologies for students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of school policies and the ability to maintain behavioral standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to analyze needs and problems objectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Alignment with LEEP's core beliefs and educational philosophy.
