Position Overview

Objective of the Role

This position is designed to evaluate and analyze referrals and service requests to ensure the safety and welfare of children requiring assistance from Children and Youth Services or other community organizations. The primary focus is on assessing risks and formulating action plans to guarantee the safety and well-being of children through agency services and referrals.

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial assessments to identify the immediate needs of children and families referred for services.
  • Provide crisis intervention to stabilize families and individuals in distress.
  • Collect information from various reporting sources to complete the screening and referral process.
  • Deliver information, referrals, and essential services to families and individuals.
  • Maintain precise documentation and records using the Child Accounting Profile System (CAPS).
  • Prepare necessary reports in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Testify in legal proceedings when required and coordinate appointments for services.
  • Engage in cross-program staffing and participate in on-call rotations for emergencies.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect the privacy of health information.
  • Facilitate placements for children following agency protocols.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of six months experience as a County Caseworker 1;
  • Bachelor's degree in social welfare or a related discipline with pertinent experience;
  • Or a comparable combination of experience and training in social sciences.
  • A valid Pennsylvania driver's license is mandatory.

Clearances:

  • Must secure Act 34 PA State Police Criminal History, Act 151 PA Child Abuse, and FBI clearances.
  • Must not appear on Preclusion Lists.

  • Confidentiality of client information and records must be maintained at all times.
