**Job Title:** Child Welfare Specialist
**Job Summary:** The County of Clarion is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child Welfare Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our social services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children in need of services.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of referrals and service requests to determine the level of risk and develop effective action plans to ensure child safety and well-being.
- Provide crisis counseling and support to individuals and families in need, with a focus on stabilizing and empowering them to make positive changes.
- Collaborate with community agencies and stakeholders to gather information and complete the screening and referral process.
- Offer information, referrals, and necessary services to individuals and families, with a focus on promoting self-sufficiency and independence.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation and records through our Child Accounting Profile System (CAPS).
- Prepare reports and presentations as required by policies and procedures, with a focus on providing clear and concise information.
- Testify in court as necessary and schedule appointments for services, with a focus on ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and families.
- Participate in cross-program staffing and on-call rotation for emergencies, with a focus on providing 24/7 support and services.
- Comply with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information and records.
- Arrange placements for children following agency procedures, with a focus on ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and families.
**Education & Experience:**
- At least six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1 or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Bachelor's degree in social welfare or a related field, with relevant experience and training in social sciences.
- Or an equivalent combination of experience and training in social sciences.
- Pennsylvania driver's license required.
**Clearances:**
- Must obtain Act 34 PA State Police Criminal History, Act 151 PA Child Abuse, and FBI clearances.
- Cannot appear on Preclusion Lists.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Initiative and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on finding creative solutions to complex problems.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, with a focus on achieving shared goals and objectives.
- Operational knowledge of computer systems and office equipment, with a focus on using technology to enhance services and outcomes.
- Observational and documentation skills, with a focus on maintaining accurate and detailed records.
- Knowledge of child development and social service work, with a focus on promoting positive outcomes for children and families.
- Empathy and understanding towards individuals' needs, with a focus on providing compassionate and supportive services.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, with a focus on taking initiative and making decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to travel for work-related duties, with a focus on providing services to diverse populations.
- Works in indoor and outdoor environments with potential disruptions and stress, with a focus on maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
- Travels occasionally and works traditional hours, with a focus on providing flexible and responsive services.
- Requires ability to cope with physical and mental stress, with a focus on maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
