POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is situated within the Elections Division of the Clerk and Recorder's office, primarily tasked with managing voter registration and absentee ballot requests. The position involves providing courteous assistance to the public, maintaining databases, processing and validating petitions, and overseeing election operations.
  • Review and process voter registration applications, ensuring all information is accurate and complete. Notify individuals of any missing details or required documents.
  • Assist individuals visiting the office for voter registration or in-person voting.
  • Identify whether a voter is newly registering or already listed in the state database, updating records as necessary.
  • Scan and print voter registration confirmation cards, ensuring proper filing of application cards.
  • Mail batches of voter confirmation cards to registered voters.
  • Update voter rolls by removing individuals who have passed away or moved out of state, while maintaining respectful communication with families.
  • Ensure timely processing of voter registration applications in accordance with registration deadlines.
  • Respond to inquiries via phone and email, providing accurate information regarding the registration and election processes.
  • Update the address library with new streets and address ranges, ensuring accurate district assignments.
  • Collaborate with the Recording Office to maintain accurate election maps and district boundaries.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment for both voters and colleagues.
  • Process applications from military and overseas voters.
  • Monitor and order office supplies, ensuring proper filing of invoices.
  • Assist in the recruitment, scheduling, and training of temporary clerks and election officials.
  • Set up and manage satellite election offices, leading temporary clerks as needed.
  • Oversee inventory of election supplies, preparing necessary materials for election judges.
  • Prepare ballots for printing, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Schedule election judges for polling places, ensuring adequate staffing.
  • Prepare and distribute mail ballot packets, maintaining accurate records of sent and returned ballots.
  • Conduct absentee voting, verifying eligibility and maintaining secure records.
  • Address various election-related inquiries, connecting individuals with appropriate resources.
  • Prepare and test voting equipment for accessibility.
  • Operate ballot tabulators and manage post-election materials.
  • Certify petitions for candidates and issues, ensuring compliance with signature verification processes.
  • File various candidate forms and documents.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to securely collect ballot boxes from designated locations.
  • Work with supervisors to create electronic ballots for military and overseas voters.
QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires knowledge of federal election laws, state regulations, and county policies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with local geography and voting districts is essential. Candidates must demonstrate professionalism and courtesy when interacting with the public, possess strong communication skills, and maintain attention to detail.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Typically, candidates will have a high school diploma and at least one year of relevant work experience. Training will be provided on the job.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid driver's license is required, along with the ability to provide transportation for job-related duties.
