Job Description

Corning Incorporated is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Development Intern in the Optical Communications segment. As a Development Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that drive innovation and growth in the field of fiber optics.

Responsibilities
  • Support the development of new processes, products, and equipment using coating, stranding, and extrusion techniques.
  • Collaborate with research and manufacturing functions throughout the product development cycle.
  • Conduct research, propose experiments, and analyze data to test hypotheses and enhance understanding of equipment and processes.
  • Provide Corning with inventive solutions toward new development efforts.
  • Identify and investigate new processing techniques to develop innovative cable designs.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in an accredited Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent degree program.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to share and clearly express technical ideas.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and communicate effectively within a global work environment.
Desired Skills
  • Computer-aided design for mechanical drawings.
  • Continuous process design and development experience.
  • Experience in polymer extrusion.
  • Ability to perform complex data analysis using MS Excel (SPC) or statistical software such as JMP or Minitab.
