About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Formulation Chemist to join our Research and Development team at RCM Technologies, Inc. in Hickory, NC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Operations and R&D teams to create and commercialize new products, including adhesives, sealants, and coatings.
  • Develop project plans and timelines for assigned projects, providing timely updates and reports as directed, and conducting presentations as needed.
  • Provide technical support to Marketing, Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and other Product Development staff as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date with technical trends in the adhesives, sealants, and coatings market, and provide expertise on related raw materials, processes, and test methodologies.
  • Conduct literature and patent reviews, and make internal summaries and presentations on relevant developments in the field.
  • Familiar with Stage gate process and Design control procedure knowledge and document maintenance.
  • Work with EHS to support regulatory compliance.
  • Expected to be comfortable making presentations to research and development staff and other departments.
  • Interact with a small research and development team, but able to communicate effectively with all operating divisions through the United States and Europe.

Requirements
  • Good understanding of different chemistries, such as silicone, epoxy, urethane, UV curing, etc., and structure-property relationship.
  • Familiar with analytical analysis techniques, such as FT-IR, DSC, TGA, GC-MS, GPC, and different kinds of physical properties testing.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools, such as DOE for preselecting candidates based on DOE test results.
  • Experience with silicone-based materials is a plus.
Education
  • MS in Chemistry/Materials Science/Chemical Engineering/Polymer Science with + years of experience: or PhD in Chemistry/Materials Science/Chemical Engineering/Polymer Science with + years of experience
