Automation Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team at Desmet Ballestra. As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, specifying, and developing process plant control systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop process plant control systems using PLC/SCADA products from leading automation suppliers.
  • Develop HMI screens and conduct internal and external FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) for PLC/HMI systems.
  • Coordinate with projects and process teams during software development and commissioning stages.
  • Travel to sites for start-up and commissioning of automation systems.
  • Conduct IO tests and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests) with clients and group office site engineers.
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree in Electro-Mechanical or Automation.
  • Ability to independently develop software and commission plants/machines.
  • Exposure to STL/LAD/FBD programming.
  • Knowledge and hands-on work experience with PLC/SCADA products from leading automation suppliers.
  • Sound knowledge of field/process safety and hazardous area classifications.
  • Good communication and planning skills.
  • Pro-active and self-driven attitude.
  • Ability to learn quickly and bring creative solutions to problems.
  • Fluent knowledge of English and French (any other language will be an asset).
