Thermal Systems Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Thermal Systems Engineering Manager to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you will be responsible for leading the development and management of spacecraft thermal control systems.
Responsibilities- Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and mentor a diverse team of Thermal Systems Engineers.
- Manage the professional development of direct reports, including coaching, performance reviews, and promotion management.
- Lead the development and management of Thermal IPT specifications and requirements.
- Develop and manage thermal interfaces, including Interface Control Documents and models.
- Standardize Thermal Systems Engineering approaches across Lunar missions.
- Own the verification and validation of Thermal requirements, collaborating with Thermal test engineers.
- Perform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels and to verification activities.
- Utilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill, and Cameo.
- Support and present at major gated reviews, including design reviews and readiness reviews.
- Monitor technical progress, requirements, budget, schedule, deliverables, and risks, and review recommendations for change with program management.
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or similar.
- Experience in generating requirements, decomposition, and analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
- M.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- 2+ years managing technical teams and/or leading functional groups with responsibility for leading and mentoring employees.
- 8+ years of experience in thermal analysis for spacecraft systems.
- Experience solving a variety of spacecraft engineering challenges.
- Familiar with agile project management.
- Experience in design and analysis of safety-critical systems.
- Experience in safety-critical aerospace vehicle certification processes.
- Experience with space vehicle design, verification, integration, and test.
- Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management, and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
- Experience managing subcontracts.
