Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Thermal Systems Engineering Manager to lead our team of engineers in the development of spacecraft thermal control systems. As a key member of our Lunar Permanence business unit, you'll be responsible for defining and developing thermal systems that will enable sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

Responsibilities
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and mentor a diverse team of Thermal Systems Engineers
  • Manage direct reports' professional development, including coaching, routine one-on-one development conversations, performance reviews, and promotion management
  • Lead the development and management of Thermal IPT specifications and requirements (hardware and software)
  • Lead the development and management of thermal interfaces, including Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and models
  • Standardize Thermal Systems Engineering approaches across Lunar missions
  • Own the verification and validation of Thermal requirements, in collaboration with Thermal test engineers
  • Perform traceability analysis of requirements to higher levels, and to verification activities
  • Utilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill, and Cameo
  • Support and present at major gated reviews, including design reviews, readiness reviews, etc.
  • Monitor technical progress, requirements, budget, schedule, deliverables, and risks, as well as review recommendations for change with program management
  • Communicate progress to leadership team via program management reviews, weekly/monthly, finance reviews, long-term forecasting business plan, and project deep dives
Requirements
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or similar
  • Experience in the generation of requirements, decomposition, and analysis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive relationships, and work effectively in a team environment
