Position Summary:

The Parent Educator role is centered around the Parent as Teachers (PAT) Model, which encompasses four integral components: personal home visits, group connections, child screenings, and a resource network. The primary objectives of this program include enhancing parental understanding of early childhood development, improving parenting techniques, facilitating early identification of developmental and health concerns, preventing child maltreatment, and fostering children's readiness for school.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time, home-based position that requires flexibility in scheduling, often extending beyond traditional work hours due to the responsibilities involved.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in public health or community development, particularly with young children and parents.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the PAT model, which is a voluntary, evidence-based home visiting program aimed at ensuring the health, safety, and educational readiness of young children.
  • Participate in PAT foundational and model implementation training, along with additional required training sessions.
  • Utilize the designated curriculum in delivering PAT services to families.
  • Conduct regular meetings with families in accordance with PAT model standards based on caseload capacity.
  • Engage in reflective supervision and attend regular staff meetings.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with families while adhering to ethical standards.
  • Comply with child abuse and neglect reporting laws.
  • Perform developmental screenings at recommended intervals.

Confidentiality:

Access to clinical records is granted through a secure web-based database. Adherence to state and federal confidentiality laws regarding clinical records is mandatory, along with compliance with organizational policies for the management of such records.

Physical Requirements:

The physical demands of this position require regular sitting, talking, and listening. Frequent use of hands and arms is necessary, with occasional standing and walking. The role may involve lifting or moving items up to 15 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The work environment includes clinical settings as well as home, school, and community visits, with potential exposure to various health risks.
