Registered Respiratory Care Specialist II

Position Overview:
Under the guidance of a physician and adhering to the protocols established by the Medical Director, the individual in this role is expected to take on primary clinical responsibilities for a range of respiratory care procedures. This position requires significant independent clinical judgment in managing the respiratory health of patients. The practitioner will serve as a vital resource for physicians regarding contemporary practices in respiratory care and will provide support to hospital staff in implementing effective and safe respiratory care techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients' respiratory conditions by reviewing medical histories, laboratory results, and monitoring data to systematically assess their overall cardiopulmonary health.
- Data Interpretation: Analyze patient data to create targeted care plans, determining necessary treatments, equipment, and medication dosages.
- Diagnostic Procedures: Execute and interpret various diagnostic tests related to the cardiopulmonary system, including ABG sampling, spirometry, and EKGs.
- Equipment Management: Ensure the proper functioning and cleanliness of respiratory care equipment, performing routine checks and minor repairs as needed.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Administer prescribed therapeutic procedures, monitor patient responses, and adjust treatments based on clinical assessments.
- Patient Education: Provide education to patients regarding their respiratory conditions and management strategies, ensuring they understand their treatment plans.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and participating in departmental training programs.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of three years of recent experience in respiratory care.
- Education: High school diploma or GED; completion of a respiratory care education program accredited by CoARC or CAAHEP.
- Licensure: Current Respiratory Care Practitioner License in California, Basic Life Support certification, and Registered Respiratory Therapist credential.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist or Neonatal/Pediatric Specialist.
- Experience in critical care and neonatal/pediatric respiratory care.
