Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle incoming inquiries from customers in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Maintain and update passenger trip data accurately.
  • Welcome and assist the general public.
  • Assess the nature of inquiries and provide appropriate responses.
  • Deliver precise information regarding routes, schedules, and other relevant data to customers through various communication channels.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of TARTA's service area, routes, and schedules.
  • Understand and adhere to TARTA's safety protocols to ensure the well-being of employees and the public.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and training sessions as required.
  • Process the sale of passes and tickets.
  • Execute additional related tasks as assigned.

Technical Skills: This role demands proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt to specific software applications. The Information Operator will coordinate various activities related to vehicle routing and dispatching. This position involves analyzing and evaluating routes and schedules to ensure efficient transportation services while acting as a liaison between passengers and TARTA.

Adaptability: The Information Operator role is dynamic, requiring the candidate to be flexible and responsive to change.

Work Schedule: Shifts may vary and could include weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and professional telephone etiquette.
  • Competence in using computers to meet job requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and the public.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to listen attentively and convey information clearly and kindly.
  • Experience dealing with diverse individuals in potentially stressful situations.
  • Clear and articulate telephone communication skills.
  • Awareness of operational challenges, passenger concerns, and safety issues.
  • Good judgment and strong interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements: The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting, talking, and listening. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds may be required. Extensive use of computers and viewing screens is necessary.

Work Environment: The work setting is typical of a busy office, with a moderately quiet noise level.
