Key Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:


The role entails supporting the establishment of relevant systems and ensuring that all policies, procedures, and activities concerning Food Safety and Quality are consistently adhered to, thereby minimizing product and process variability.

The individual will ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.
A qualified candidate will oversee the implementation of industry food safety protocols within the manufacturing setting.

Expertise in maintaining quality standards throughout all stages of food processing, packaging, and distribution is essential, with a focus on developing and executing food safety measures.

This position also carries the responsibility of adhering to human safety regulations, reinforcing food safety and employee safety as fundamental values.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the development, training, execution, and verification of all quality systems.

Oversee the quality assurance program for aseptic operations, including the creation of training materials for aseptic observations and mentoring QA floor support in quality and compliance aspects of aseptic processing.

Provide training and technical assistance to all operational staff regarding GMPs, aseptic processing and packaging, sanitation, food safety, and product quality.

Ensure adherence to all regulatory, customer, and corporate programs. Participate in regulatory, customer, and internal audits. Lead the development, training, and maintenance of the plant's Food Safety and Quality programs.
Possess comprehensive knowledge of GFSI standards.
Maintain open communication and promote teamwork among all local personnel, departments, and shifts.
Act as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure fair administration of company personnel policies and procedures across departments and shifts.
Responsible for creating annual Quality and Sanitation budgets and managing cost control throughout the year.
Advocate for the use of Quality Improvement Tools, Lean Manufacturing, and Root Cause Analysis.
Oversee the development and monitoring of plant sanitation programs to guarantee a safe and high-quality product supply.

Utilize strong SPC knowledge to manage data collection, trending, and reporting to identify root causes and opportunities for improvement, including key product attributes, shelf life, and productivity while ensuring quality.

Communicate Food Safety and Quality related KPIs and lead teams in identifying and addressing trends.
Provide leadership to ensure a safe working environment throughout the facility. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
Follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions, and ensure product quality is upheld.

Report and address any conditions or practices that may negatively impact food safety, food quality, or personnel safety.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
5+ years of supervisory or managerial experience in a food manufacturing environment, preferably in aseptic beverage processing.
Completion of HACCP training.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
Able to inspire and develop both salaried and hourly personnel.
Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and off shifts as necessary.
Experience or knowledge of applicable food industry quality systems.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Technical expertise in aseptic processes, equipment, and products.
Experience in microbiological testing and commercial sterility testing of aseptic food or beverages.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, such as RedZone and Intelex.
Experience with new plant startup processes.
Certification from Better Process Control School.
Completion of PCQI training.
SQF Edition 9 certification.
Certified HACCP Manager.
Training as an Internal Auditor.
