Position Overview:

The Seasonal Human Resources Assistant will primarily focus on evaluating candidates daily for various substitute positions, facilitating interview arrangements, managing candidate communications, advancing candidates through the hiring workflow, ensuring candidates complete the onboarding process, supporting job fairs, organizing interview events, engaging in special projects, performing light administrative tasks, and providing assistance as required.

This role is part-time and temporary in nature.

Key Responsibilities of the Seasonal Human Resources Assistant:

  • Evaluate candidates daily for diverse substitute roles
  • Facilitate interview scheduling
  • Manage candidate communications
  • Advance candidates through the application tracking system
  • Ensure candidates complete the hiring process successfully
  • Support and participate in job fairs
  • Provide additional assistance as needed
Qualifications for Success:

Educational Background:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required
Professional Experience:
  • 1-2 years of relevant recruiting experience

  • Proficient in technology, including Peoplesoft, Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and applicant tracking systems, with a quick learning ability for other software

  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on empathy and attentiveness to client needs
  • Willingness to collaborate with others to meet organizational goals
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when necessary
Employment Conditions:

As a condition of employment with Chicago Public Schools (CPS), employees are required to:
  • Establish and Maintain Chicago Residency: Employees must reside within the City of Chicago's geographic boundaries within six months of their hire date and maintain residency throughout their employment. Note that this requirement does not apply to temporary or part-time positions.
  • Be Fully Vaccinated or Submit to Weekly COVID-19 Testing: Employees must be fully vaccinated within 30 days of their hire date. Full vaccination is defined as at least two weeks after the second shot of a two-shot vaccination series or at least two weeks after a one-shot vaccination. Unvaccinated staff must undergo weekly testing.
