Role Overview:

In this position, you will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and upholding quality system processes that are essential for products in a manufacturing setting. You will measure, analyze, and enhance quality system performance in alignment with organizational quality objectives. Your role will involve integrating quality system applications across engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure the consistent application of quality best practices and effective communication regarding quality issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with cross-functional teams.
  • Lead root cause analysis initiatives to identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Review and approve manufacturing documentation, including work orders and nonconformance records.
  • Conduct periodic audits of our quality system in accordance with AS9100 standards.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance product and system quality.
  • Provide quality assurance expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and testing teams.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders on quality-related matters.
  • Develop training materials to promote quality awareness across the organization.

Reporting Structure:

You will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager and collaborate with a dedicated team of Quality Engineers. Your contributions will significantly impact the development, testing, and launch of space systems, supporting Blue Origin's vision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Quality Engineer role within a production environment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management Systems.
  • Ability to support manufacturing schedules and work overtime as necessary.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and maintain professional relationships.
  • U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Quality Engineer from the American Society of Quality.
  • Experience in the aerospace sector, including space launch and military/commercial aviation.
  • Knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum) and IPC 620 standards.
  • Familiarity with GD&T fundamentals and quality improvement tools such as Lean principles and Six Sigma.
  • Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP) and process failure mode effects analysis (PFMEA).
  • Experience conducting Quality Management System audits.
  • Proficiency in quality performance measurement and analysis.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
