Position Overview:
The Mechanical Facilities Engineer III is responsible for the design and implementation of HVAC and Plumbing/Piping systems across a diverse array of critical projects. This role involves both independent and collaborative work within a dynamic engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute detailed phases of HVAC and Plumbing design, including calculations, process flow diagrams, and layouts for mechanical equipment.
  • Develop comprehensive mechanical construction specifications, inspection plans, and design descriptions.
  • Utilize standard engineering techniques and procedures to address tasks, while also adapting methods for complex project requirements.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks on engineering designs to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals, including mechanical scopes, budget forecasts, and timelines.
  • Engage with Federal, State, and Local government clients to present and discuss design concepts.

The Mechanical Facilities Engineer III plays a vital role in a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the production of detailed project design packages, including drawings and specifications. This position offers significant leadership opportunities, including task delegation and coordination with engineers and support staff. Occasional travel may be required for project site visits.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is mandatory.
  • Eligibility to obtain a Department of Defense security clearance.
  • Proven experience in designing HVAC and plumbing/piping systems, including associated engineering calculations.
  • Expertise in selecting and sizing HVAC and plumbing equipment.
  • Strong proficiency in drafting mechanical specifications.
  • Competency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with HVAC design software and building information modeling tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant engineering standards and codes.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
