Job Responsibilities

We are seeking individuals with a strong background in business management to oversee the operational functions of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This role will:

  • Oversee the administrative and operational management tasks for the designated unit, including budget oversight, financial management, procurement, and asset administration.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to administrative personnel, offering guidance and support for various responsibilities.
  • Facilitate the budget formulation process for the work unit.
  • Direct administrative operations, ensuring effective prioritization and allocation of tasks and resources.
  • Offer technical support to staff while ensuring compliance with established practices and procedures through collaboration and consultation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficient in gathering and analyzing data to create technical reports.
  • Experience in developing, managing, and administering budgets, spreadsheets, and financial systems.
  • Skilled in utilizing computer software applications, including automated financial systems.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Experience in applying supervisory and human resources principles, including recruitment, discipline, performance management, and employee development.
  • Knowledge of fundamental business management practices.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences and conducting presentations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply relevant federal, state, and agency policies and procedures, ensuring compliance among stakeholders.

Additional Considerations

  • Experience with procurement policies and practices.
  • A combination of education, training, or experience in Business Administration, Finance, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS Office and relevant financial systems.
  • Progressively responsible administrative experience, including budget management and procurement practices.
