Overview of the Department

The Gerber Cancer Care and Infusion Center provides outpatient Medical Oncology and Infusion Services. Our infusion services encompass a range of treatments including antibiotic and blood administration, platelet transfusions, IV therapies, chemotherapy, hydration, injections, and therapeutic phlebotomies. The Registered Nurse collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated, comprehensive, and exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include performing telephone triage, administering infusions, coordinating care, and educating patients. About Our Outpatient Clinics

Corewell Health operates over 300 outpatient clinics throughout Michigan, offering diverse care options to the communities we serve. With more than 40 different types of primary care and specialty practices, our clinics provide opportunities for staff to explore various interests or specialize in specific areas.

Responsibilities

The RN provides nursing care by assessing and prioritizing medical needs based on telephone inquiries from patients, families, providers, and others. The role involves ensuring prompt responses to patients with high-risk conditions. Under the ANA scope of practice, the RN utilizes the nursing process framework to deliver professional nursing care, incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge patients. The RN delivers quality care under the guidance of the Nurse Leader, adhering to Corewell Health policies and procedures, while recognizing the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on outcomes. The RN collaborates with patients and families to incorporate their input and goals into the care plan and develops educational strategies, documenting learning in the health record.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing must be obtained within 5 years.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC required within 90 days.

Work Schedule

Full-time position with day shifts scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
